Join us for an Ecstatic Dance and SoulCollage® workshop as we focus on body and movement as sacred expressions of the Inner Child.
Ecstatic dance offers a powerful way to reconnect with our inner child by providing a non-judgmental, free-form space for authentic expression. By getting out of your head and into your body, dancing away inhibitions, and embracing playful, wild movements, you give your inner child permission to be seen, heard, and felt.
Making collaged cards using the intuitive SoulCollage® method offers a natural and gentle pathway to the Inner Child because it speaks the language that children know best: images, imagination, and play. The tactile, hands-on nature of SoulCollage®—touching paper, choosing images, cutting and arranging—often awakens a childlike state of curiosity and presence.
This workshop is co-facilitated by Libbie Vaughan, LCSW who is passionate about Ecstatic Dance and Tierra Ortiz-Rodriguez, LPC who is passionate about expressive arts.
How Ecstatic Dance Connects With the Inner Child
Permission to Play: The core rules (no talking, no judgment, no intoxicants) create a safe container for pure, authentic movement, letting you express quirks, giggles, and spontaneous joy that your inner child craves.
Somatic Release: Unprocessed emotions and trauma get stored in the body; free movement allows you to shake, wiggle, and move in ways that release these blockages, helping you feel grounded and whole.
Reclaiming Joy: It's a chance to rediscover the simple, uninhibited pleasure of moving your body, tapping into childlike wonder and energy.
Body-Mind Connection: It helps you move past self-consciousness and mental stories, fostering a deep, intuitive connection with your body's wisdom and sensations.
Honoring Your Journey: For many practitioners, ecstatic dance becomes a sacred meeting place with the inner child. In this embodied communion, movement becomes both witness and celebration: honoring the stories that shaped you, releasing what is ready to soften, and reconnecting with the playful, vital essence that remains intact.
How to Practice Ecstatic Dance
Show Up As You Are: No experience or "good dancing" required; just bring your authentic self.
Listen to the Music: Let the rhythm guide you, allowing different emotions and sensations to arise and move through you.
Move Freely: Don't worry about what it looks like; try skipping, shaking, jumping, or slow, intuitive movements.
Be Present: Stay off your phone and focus inward, connecting with your breath and body.
Embrace "All Ways": Give yourself permission to be silly, serious, wild, or gentle, recognizing that every movement serves a purpose.
