Grief Tending: A Grief Ritual Workshop

We are remade in times of grief, broken apart and reassembled. It is hard, painful, and unbidden work.
— Francis Weller

Description:

Grief tending is the practice of consciously making space to feel, express, and move through grief in a compassionate and communal way. Grief is not something to be fixed or rushed, but something to be tended to through care, presence, and ritual. This intimate gathering offers a supportive space to honor grief and loss, explore emotional healing, and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones through sacred ritual and mindful self-care.

Who This is For:

This workshop is for anyone navigating grief and loss, which includes but is not limited to: the death of a significant person, the death of a beloved pet, the loss of home, country, or community, the loss of health, the loss of identity, the loss of dreams, pregnancy loss, divorce or breakup, estrangement from family, loss of a loved one to incarceration, ecological grief for the planet, grief of war and genocide, ancestral grief, and many other forms of grief. All grief is valid and worthy of being shared, witnessed, and ritualized.

What to Expect:

Through guided practices and simple yet meaningful rituals—including heart-focused breathing, collage art, expressive writing, sound healing, the Japanese art of kintsugi, and reflective sharing—you'll be invited to gently process grief, reclaim inner stillness, and find pathways to meaning-making and self-care. We will create a courageous, communal container for both solitude and connection, where you can slow down, feel held, and tend to your heart, mind, body, and spirit.

What to Bring:

✨️Yoga Mat
✨️Blanket
✨️Water
✨️All collage and kintsugi supplies will be provided. You are invited to bring a variety of pictures of your loved one(s), as well as images that evoke their energy, that you are open to incorporating into your community SoulCollage® card. Feel free to bring real photographs or printed copies—whatever you feel comfortable using. And if it is handy, you are welcome to bring a broken object of your choice that you would like to repair (e.g., pottery or ceramics).
