Pain Reprocessing Therapy for Chronic Pain
in Sugar Land, Texas

Pain Reprocessing Therapy is a mind-body therapy for persistent symptoms like chronic pain that are caused by neural pathways in the brain that have become sensitized through a process called neuroplasticity.

When pain or other physical symptoms occur repeatedly—especially during periods of stress, injury, illness, or emotional overwhelm—the brain strengthens the neural pathways associated with those sensations.

“Neurons that fire together, wire together.”

Over time, the brain becomes more efficient at producing pain and sensory signals, even after tissues have healed or when no structural damage is present. This is called sensitization.

Don’t Guess. Assess.

If any of these apply to you, you may benefit from Sugar Land Pain Reprocessing Therapy:

  • Pain or symptoms originated during a time of stress

  • Pain or symptoms originated without injury

  • Pain or symptoms persists long after an injury has healed

  • Symptoms are inconsistent

  • Large number of symptoms

  • Symptoms spread and move

  • Symptoms are triggered by stress

  • Lack of physical diagnosis or lack of consensus among multiple diagnoses

  • History of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, victimization, or marginalization

  • Personality pressures such as perfectionism, people pleasing, emotional avoidance, self-neglect, low self-esteem

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a mind-body approach designed to help people reduce or eliminate chronic pain and neuroplastic symptoms by retraining the brain to interpret signals accurately and safely.

PRT combines education, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation to rewire your brain’s response to perceived danger and respond to sensations with safety, curiosity, and calm instead of fear and avoidance.

Through repeated practice, the brain learns that the body is not in danger—allowing pain and sensory signals to decrease or resolve over time.

I help clients soar above neuroplastic symptoms—also known as Psychophysiologic Disorders (PPD), Mind-Body Syndrome (MBS), and Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS)—using evidence-based, neuroplasticity-informed treatments. I have Advanced Certification in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) as well as training in Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET).

I am local to Sugar Land, TX and also combine PRT with nature-based, walk-and-talk therapy.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy What to Expect

Pain education: Understand the neuroplastic nature of pain and persistent symptoms. Learn to reframe mind-body symptoms as a brain-generated, reversible process (vs. structural damage).

Safety reappraisal: Reinterpret pain and symptoms as safe rather than dangerous. Practice shifting from hypervigilance to safety using accurate knowledge, mindset, and paradoxical attitudes.

Somatic tracking: Mindfully observe sensations with curiosity, compassion, and reassurance. Discover mind-body practices like somatic meditation to reduce fear and calm the nervous system.

Break the fear-avoidance cycle: Avoidance of movement, activity, or bodily sensations can unintentionally strengthen pain circuits. Learn to courageously approach and engage with avoided experiences, restoring confidence and reducing fear.

Emotional awareness and expression: Gently explore underlying emotions that drive or amplify symptoms, such as guilt, anger, shame, and grief.

Reduce internal pressures: Symptoms are often amplified by protective patterns such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, and self-criticism, to name a few. In PRT, we gently explore these traits to reduce internal pressure and calm the nervous system.

Soar above symptoms with behavioral activation: Live life fully and return to valued activities as you seek out Purpose, Play, Joy, Connection, Gratitude, Authenticity, and more! Positive emotional states build resilience and durable healing.
